A Working table is used to hold data temporarily, prior to its formal introduction into a Master table, for review and validation. The life history of a batch of working data is tracked in the Tracking database. Data are considered working because they are intended to eventually be validated and then transferred into a Master table. After this is done, the Working table would then typically be archived (see Backup to Archive).
To create a Working table, select File | New Working Table and fill in the tracking information:
A new, empty Working table is created, the Tracking table is populated with the information you entered, and an empty Data Browser is displayed.
There are a number of ways of getting raw data into a new Working table table. See Enter Data into a Working Table and Import Data from an Outside Source to learn how to do it.
Note: under some circumstances, you will not have the ability to create new Working tables:
you do not have database permissions to creat new tables
the project is configured as Read-Only and you are not logged in as the Supervisor
