Logging Table Edits in the Journal

A new Support table called Journal was added in WRDB 6.0. This table is used to record edits to Working, Master, and Support tables and optionally allow the user to add descriptive comments to the entries to better manage your workflow. Journal entries consist of the following items:

Journal entries are always made by WRDB, but you can choose to add additional descriptive information two ways:

  1. Set the Project Preferences to prompt you after specific types of operations to enter additional descriptive information similar to what happens when you select Edit | Add Journal Entry; your choices for this setting are:

  2. Click the "Add Description for Journal" button present on almost all forms that edit tables (). You will be prompted to enter a description that will be added to the Journal entry when the operation is complete. Note that when you add Journal descriptions this way, you will not be prompted to confirm them even if the project preferences are set to "Always".
