Microsoft Access is a relatively compact, very fast file-based provider that stores all database objects in a single MDB file. The maximum file size is 2 GB; Access has been reported to be subject to corruption as the file size nears the 2 GB limit. Although it theoretically provides multi-user access, it has again been reported to endanger the integrity of the database.
Access (and all Jet database providers like Paradox, dBase, and Excel) require that the MSDAC (Data Access Components) be installed on your computer. This is almost certainly already present on any modern Windows operating system. Just in case, the installer (MSDAC_TYP.exe) has been included in the Redist folder.
